This work continues Jason Jowett’s signature layered fabric style, first developed as a way of navigating depression and self-reflection. Hand-painted linen is cut, layered, and sewn together to create depth and movement, embodying both vulnerability and strength.
The subject, a man in side profile allowed Jowett to experiment with shadow, light, and the subtleties of form. The piece explores how darkness and light carve not just the face and body, but also the emotional weight we carry beneath the surface.

Layered Fabric Art
Over time, fabric may collect dust. To remove, use a lint roller slowly and gently, rolling downwards with the grain of the fabric. Avoid pulling against the fabric layers.
Timber Stain Frame
For frames with a timber stain, gently wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
Acrylic on Board
To clean, lightly pat the surface with a soft damp cloth to lift dust. Do not rub or use cleaning products.
Sunlight
Display artworks away from direct sunlight. UV exposure can cause colours to fade and weaken both fabrics and timber finishes over time.
Climate & Environment
Keep artworks in stable conditions, away from damp walls, heaters, or air conditioners. Excess humidity can damage fabrics and timber, while extreme dryness or heat may cause warping or cracking. Always handle with clean hands and take care when reframing or rehanging.
